Shek O

With beautiful coastal scenery and easy accessibility from the city, Shek O is a popular escape for locals and tourists. One of the more popular hiking trail in Shek O is the Dragon’s Back. A short hop from the bustle of Hong Kong East, the trail provides stunning views of Shek O, Tai Long Wan, Stanley, Tai Tam and the South China Sea.

The Dragon’s Back is a path connecting Wan Cham Shan and Shek O Peak, stretching vertically over D’Aguilar Peninsula. The path undulates between these hill tops, reminiscent of the shape of a dragon’s backbone. By the way, Dragon’s Back refers to the path rolling along the ridges from Shek O Peak to Wan Cham Shan. At 284 metres high, the hilltop sightseeing platform on Shek O Peak is the perfect place to catch firstly your breath, then enjoy the panoramic views of Shek O, Tai Long Wan and Tung Lung Island. Besides hiking and enjoying the views, people go to a small mountain gap high up on the Dragon’s Back to fly kites or jump off into the great blue yonder with paragliding wings. Cool huh!

Hong Kong is a busy city with many high skyscrapers but it is more than just that. It prides itself with many beautiful islands/places that you can visit to enjoy the beauty of nature. Do check it out when you next visit Hong Kong.
